Welcome to The Dark Times, The Dark Side Of The Lune newsletter.
The news letter is mainly designed to keep you up to date with what's
happening at The Dark Side Of The Lune and Rock-It To the Lune
but will include updates on other events taking place at the Phoenix Club
and on the alternative scene in and around Lancaster.
The Phoenix Club
We are pleased to let you know that the club has now changed its license and it is no longer necessary to be a club member to get in to Dark Side Of The Lune and
Rock-It to the Lune although we would still encourage as many people as possible to renew their memberships in support of the club. Renewals are due in January and cost just £3 for the year
Charity
Each year we hold an event to raise money for a charity and so far have raised donations for the Sophie Lancaster appeal,
Derian House Children’s Hospice, Macmillan Nurses and Help for Heroes. We would like to support another charity this year possibly with a joint Rock It / Dark Side event. If you have a charity you would like us to consider and perhaps a theme for that night please let us know
New Equipment
This year we are hoping to upgrade our sound and lighting systems
subject to a sound check from the environmental health department
as a condition of the new license. If all goes well we will be
replacing 4 of the existing speakers and amplifier as well as the
moving head lighting with newer models. This will mean that we have
the following equipment for sale
- 1x Warrior 1800 watt amplifier (900 watts per channel)
- 2x 500 watt Intimidation speakers
- 2x 400 watt Carlsbro base bins
- 4x Moving head light units
2010
The regular Saturday Dates for Dark Side of the Lune and Rock It to the Lune have already been booked
for the whole of 2010 with Dark Side on the first Saturday of the month with the exception of January 2010
when we move to the second Saturday. Rock It remains at the third Saturday of each month.
Dark Side of the Lune Theme Nights for 2010
We will be continuing with the ever popular theme nights throughout 2010. The proposed themes are:-
- 1st May 2010 - Return of the Pirate. Following the success of the Pirate theme night in 2008 and by popular demand will be back in 2010.
- 7th August 2010 - Scary Fairies Theme Night. Your chance to give your slant on the popular Scary Fairy and Rock Hard Fairy action figures.
- 6th November 2010 - The Big Halloween Them Night. We do it every year and it just gets better.
As always small prizes for best or most original outfits and costumes at theme nights as well as loads of giveaways.
Soul In The City
In addition to our regular nights at the Phoenix we are delighted that
regular soul night Soul In The City has taken the regular spot of the
2nd Saturday of each month from February 2010

Right Of Admission Reserved
We will keep roaring for all the right reasons.
We will try to ensure that everyone who comes along to Dark Side Of
The Lune and Rock -It To the Lune can enjoy a safe and friendly
environment at the Phoenix Club but please take care on your way home.
